Germany: A new communications role for Weirich


On August 1,communications expert Prof. Dieter Weirich takes over the management of corporate communication at energy service provider HSE AG in Darmstadt. A trained journalist who was previously head of communications at Frankfurt airport operator Fraport, Weirich replaces Jürgen Hein-Benz.
Prior to his position at Fraport, Weirich was from 1989-2001 Director General of Deutsche Welle, part of the German international broadcaster ARD, which he transformed from a radio transmitter to a multimedia programme company. He also belonged from 1974-1989 to the Hesse state parliament and the German Bundestag, where he was media policy spokesman for the Union parties. He is author and editor of several books on media issues and new information technologies.
